No spoilers this time! Mainly because I couldn’t be bothered less to complete it. It has been more than a month that I was stuck with this book. The last time I took so long to complete a book, it was Gone with the wind but it was so worth it. This, though? I kind of regret picking it up in the first place and being stuck with it.

The only other book that I read of Austen’s is her classic Pride and prejudice. I had loved that book and adored the main characters. Sometime last year I saw this movie Becoming Jane, loosely depicting the love story of Jane Austen and Tom Lefroy played by two of my favorite artists, Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy. Maybe I was highly influenced by this movie and I fell hard for Austen and had a respect for her works. So, while I was obsessing over me, one of my friends gave me the entire box set of Austen’s works as a birthday present (I am still not over it).

Anyway, I am disappointed with Emma. Interestingly though, before the start of the book, Austen wrote, “I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like.” Well, she is right about that. I couldn’t read beyond volume 1 of it (the book has 3 volumes). The pace was too slow and nothing much was happening. I shut the book and read the plot from Wikipedia and was glad that I didn’t spend more time on it. But I would like to watch the movie adaptation of it sometime. Not now though, I will probably fall asleep. I understand the hype for this book but right now I feel like it is way too overrated.
